Trump Says FBI 'Playing Politics', Is He Right?

Republicans Dump Trump After Raid

While many top Republicans rushed to former President Donald Trump’s defense after the FBI decided to raid his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, some Republicans have flipped on Trump after it was alleged that he may have taken nuclear weapon-related documents.

According to Insider, Republican Rep. Michael McCaul who is also on the House Foreign Affairs committee has already lifted his support of Trump and is saying he is waiting to see what more in revealed in the investigation. McCaul also wants to see the affidavit that investigators filed to obtain the search warrant.

McCaul stated, “That’s pretty serious, but that is also in a different compartment, you know, we compartmentalize classified information and nuclear is in its own place. I just don’t have all the facts in front of me. It’s unfortunate they just didn’t work it out where he could send it back. You hate to see a former president have a search warrant” executed against him.”

Republican Rep. Mike Turner shared a similar sentiment and said, “it depends on what the nuclear information is.”

Turner added, “There are things that are highly, highly classified and there are things that are not extremely classified but are nonetheless classified.”

Turner also said that Attorney General Merrick Garland had “number of options” instead of using the FBI to raid Trump and something less serious could have been done instead.
