Trump Gets Bad News From The Judge
A federal judge has just rejected former President Donald Trump’s request to pause the bogus defamation lawsuit against him by a woman who is claiming that Trump sexually assaulted her decades ago.
According to The Hill, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan claimed that Trump’s argument was not legally valid because the comments he made denying her accusations were made when he was president.
Trump’s accuser E. Jean Carroll said that he sexually assaulted her inside of a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. Trump responded to the wild accusations and said that she was lying while also criticizing her appearance.
Trump insisted that he have immunity from the lawsuit because of the Westfall Act which protects government employees such as the president from civil lawsuits.
The judge claimed that Trump is simply trying to delay the case and it could cause irreparable injury to Carroll if it is delayed any longer.
“The defendant should not be permitted to run out the clock on the plaintiff’s attempt to gain a remedy for what allegedly was a serious wrong,” Judge Kaplan explained.
Trump’s attorney Alina Habba called Carroll’s accusations untrue and said, “We look forward to establishing on the record that this case is, and always has been, entirely without merit.”
