Pence Derails Trump’s 2024 Run
Former Vice President Mike Pence once again hurt former President Donald Trump’s 2024 run by refusing to say if whether or not he would endorse him if he wins the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
According to Newsmax, Pence himself is expected to run in 2024 however if he does not win the 2024 GOP presidential nomination there is no reason for him to not endorse Trump. Pence later explained that he believes Trump’s leadership style is not what the Republican party needs moving forward.
“I think we’ll have better choices,” Pence said to reporters. He later added, “I’m persuaded that no one could have defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 except Donald Trump, but I think we live in a different time and it calls for different leadership.”
As you likely already know, Former President Donald Trump and Mike Pence’s relationship soured following the 2020 presidential election which resulted in the Jan. 6 Captiol riot.
Pence then talked about his work in the White House during his time as the Vice President and said, “The American people want us to return to the policies of the Trump-Pence administration, but I think they want to see leadership that reflects more of the character of the American people: namely the commitment to principle and the civility that Americans show each other every day. And so, if we enter the fray, we will offer that kind of leadership.”
Pence’s strong comment made reporters wonder if he was asking the American people to vote for him in 2024. Pence dodged the question and said, “I promise you, if I become a candidate for president of the United States, I’ll be me. I will do it all in a way that I’ve always aspired to do, and that is show the kind of respect to people, even of differing opinions, that I think the American people show each other every day.”
