Supreme Court Justice Quits

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is set to retire form the highest court in the land this Thursday at noon.

According to Fox, Justice Breyer had told President Biden in advance about his plan to retire from the Supreme Court in January and just updated President Biden again today about his plan to step down.

Breyer stated, “The Court has announced that tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m., it will hand down all remaining opinions ready during this Term. Accordingly, my retirement from active service under the provisions of 28 U.S.C. § 371(b) will be effective on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at noon.”

Breyer will step down from active duty as a Justice but will still receive his salary because he reached well beyond retirement age being 83.

“It has been my great honor to participate as a judge in the effort to maintain our Constitution and the Rule of Law,” Breyer wrote.

Breyer as many know is a liberal Justice and President Biden was given the choice to select his replacement. Biden selected Circuit Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to be his replacement who is also a liberal judge as well.
