Biden Takes Away 2nd Amendment Rights?
It is now being reported that several House Republicans are warning that President Biden along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) could be planning to lay down the groundword to institute a backdoor federal gun registry.
Republican Rep. Michael Cloud along with 51 other Republicans penned a letter to ATF Director Marvin Richardson regarding their concerns over a new rule which could create a backdoor gun registry around Congress’ prohibition.
According to Fox News, the newly proposed rule would take away a 20-year burn date that the federal firearms licensees must abide by. This would allow the ATF to keep firearm purchase records of greater than 20 years.
This would allow the ATF to eventually have a gun records of every American gun owner.
“The Biden administration is yet again ignoring the real threats against America and instead using political leverage to encroach on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens,” Rep. Cloud stated.
Cloud further explained, “This proposed rule would be a giant leap toward a federal firearm registry, which is explicitly banned by law. Requiring federal firearm licensees to preserve records older than 20 years will enable the Biden administration to collect more information on law-abiding gun owners, all with the purpose of eventually having a registry of every gun owner in the United States.”
The ATF collected 54.7 million gun records in 2021 alone, giving many gun owners cause for concern.
