Judge Refuses To Let Trump Prove His Innocence

On Wednesday a federal judge denied former President Trump’s “quid pro quo” offer to provide his DNA in relation to a case accusing him of sexual assault.

Trump is currently trying to deal with a lawsuit by author E. Jean Carroll who has claimed that Trump had raped her in the mid-1990s. Previous efforts by Carroll to secure a DNA sample from Trump had failed, but now that Trump offered to provide a DNA sample willingly a judge decided that this was a delay tactic from Trump.

Trump has continuously denied any allegations of assault, however, Carroll has over to have it tested against a sample taken from the dress she was wearing on the day of the alleged rape.

Trump’s attorney, Joseph Tacopina, last week offered to have his client provide a DNA sample only if Carroll agreed to submit the missing appendix from the dress’ sample DNA report.

However, Carroll’s attorney refused the offer.

Judge Lewis Kaplan said that these delays are not justified and that “Either Ms. Carroll is obliged to supply the omitted appendix or she is not. Either Mr. Trump is obliged to provide a DNA sample or he is not. Neither is a quid pro quo for the other.”

Kaplan added that Trump is not entitled to have the undisclosed appendix, especially as he had never previously requested it.

Kaplan was nominated by former President Clinton to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and has constantly been critical of Trump’s attempts to delay the trial which was originally scheduled for April.
