Pelosi Replaced By Dems

After several weeks of flip-flopping it officially appears that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is expected to retire following the 2022 midterm elections.

The reason is unclear however it’s safe to say that the strong divide between moderate and progressive Democrats certainly has something to do with it.

Now, according to the Washington Post, there are several Democrats who could soon take her place.

Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) sits at the top of the list and is a clear favorite to take Pelosi’s leadership role. While Jeffries is certainly at the top of the list, Democrats are notorious for shifting narratives quickly in order to fulfill their agenda.

WaPo also noted that Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) are all in the running for Pelosi’s spot.

Rep. Khanna stated, “I think we want leadership that bridges some of the different ideological wings of the party, that is committed to listening to all of the perspectives, that will be capable of helping move the Senate or things that have stalled in the House. But whoever it is, I hope they would adopt progressive positions and also listen to the broad caucus and build consensus.”

Another Democrat to keep an eye out for is Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) who often sides with very progressive ideologies.
