Is Biden Guaranteed To Lose In 2024?

Trump Sends DeSantis Packing

In a recent survey, it was revealed that in a hypothetical Republican primary matchup, ex-President Trump has extended his lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to 33 points.

According to a Morning Consult poll, a group of current and potential GOP challengers were surveyed and it showed that Trump has garnered 56 percent of the vote in a hypothetical Republican primary matchup. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) came in second place with 23 percent. This marks the largest lead for Trump in the poll since Morning Consult began tracking the hypothetical primary in December.

The latest poll indicated that Vice President Pence obtained the third position with 7 percent of the vote in the hypothetical Republican primary, followed by former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley with 4 percent and former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) with 3 percent.

The poll also revealed that nearly half of the participants who expressed their support for Trump would back DeSantis as their second preference. Meanwhile, 41 percent of those who favor DeSantis stated that they would choose Trump as their second option.

In terms of a hypothetical matchup against President Biden, pollsters discovered that Trump and DeSantis had comparable performances, with Trump trailing by only 1 point and DeSantis behind by 2 points.

Among Republicans, both Trump and DeSantis are perceived overwhelmingly positively, with 78 percent of potential GOP primary voters having a favorable view of Trump and 69 percent holding a favorable view of DeSantis. Moreover, pollsters have not identified any increase in negative sentiment towards Trump since he was indicted on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in New York.

It should be noted that Trump is currently one of the few confirmed candidates in the race, whereas DeSantis has yet to declare his candidacy but is rumored to be considering it.
